Sea Cadet Recruit Basic Training, July 2006

Day 1

Below are pictures and short descriptions of the cadets time at boot camp this year.  I just returned yesterday from dropping them off, and after spending six hours with them as they were put through their initial paces, I can assure you that they all miss home very much.  Also, rest assured that they all got there in one piece, and made it through the first day just fine, which the CO of the camp tells me is the most difficult day for them.

Thank you parents for adhering to the seabag checklist.  It was a proud moment for Lieutenant Centonze and myself when we looked over the sea of cadets sitting with their bags and noted many of the other cadets with additional bags and luggage.  Our cadets were very squared away.

I will be heading up again to assist in the training and to shoot more pictures on Saturday and Sunday (the 14th and 15th), so look for more pictures to come.

Enjoy,

Instructor Steffen

Cadets Dilalla, Battaglia and Borreto gather at CO's house bright and early. This was us for almost 6 hours.
Janssen fights sleep as Najarro fights boredom. Tichner, Rogers and Doran enjoy the last few hours with hair on their heads.
Changing into the proper socks. The southeastern gate.  Our first glimpse.
Arrival at Admiral Farragut. The march of doom.  Last change, cadets.
Initial inspection. Learning a proper about face.
